Water Babies

Trevor and his Houston cousins LOVE to swim. He was a little unsure of himself the first time we went, but every day loves it more and more. Every day he asks if we can go swimming: Pool? Pool? Pool? Luckily, Carin and Danelle are nice enough to let us come swimming with them, and Trevor gets to go a few times each week. It really makes the Houston heat/humidity at least somewhat tolerable! Plus, it gives us something fun to do to break up the day and Trev takes great naps after a day at the pool. I'm starting to think we're going to have to rule out any other outdoor activities since we can't even have a cool walk at 7:30 to 8 ish in the morning. It just doesn't cool down at night.

Trev & Madsie at the pool. These two love to sit on the steps and play. We bought Trevor one of those funny muscle floaty suits, but don't really use it much because I think he can get used to the water better without it. Maybe when he's older it'll help.

The Hae Hae's had a pool/pizza party on the 1st day of Summer vacation. This was Trev's first whole piece of pizza. He went right at it, a little unconventionally!

Trev had the kids over for a little Disney Channel and snacks after the pool. We love SUMMER!

Moving In

I've been so busy getting things together for our move and getting settled there that I haven't had any time to blog. We are getting everything put together piece by piece and loving our new house. It's good to have all our stuff back and to feel like we can settle in a little bit. We don't have internet and won't for a few months most likely (I' m going to go crazy without it!) so I won't be blogging for a while. But hopefully I'll be back at it in a little while!

A Tale Of Two Cities

This week I conquered my very own literary Mt. Everest. (Yes Laura - I finally did it and it was painless!) I read A Tale of Two Cities. I know, I know, it's not even nearly the longest, most boring book in the world. But for some reason it was so hard for me to get into; I had read the first 30 or so pages of this book about 4 or 5 times, half asleep. I began the book one last, determined time, barrelled through it, and by page 100 or so I was hooked and loved pretty much every minute beyond that point.

Reading the book made me feel so conflicted because on the one hand you just feel miserable for the poverty and abuse and misery that the people lived through. But when the Revolution barrels on, and they become so ruthless and desensitized to the things that they are doing to not only the people who oppressed them, but poor, innocent people too - you lose that sense of sympathy. I think that there has to be a point where you take accountability for the horrible things that are done in, even in desperate, low times like those.

Anyway, I highly recommend the book. Just stick with it if it bores you to death at the beginning. You'll get into it and (hopefully) be glad you did!

He's so cute I wish I could be there to snuggle him and kiss those baby cheeks!!! Congratulations you two, he's beautiful! Give him lots of loves from his Auntie Sissa!

I hate not being there for events like this! I'm also missed Mikey's band's debut at The Venue (which you can also see on YouTube just search for "We Won The Science Fair"), his graduation is coming up this week, which blows my mind! What happened to you!?!?! :-) J/K But I really do miss you guys lots!

Finding Home Sweet Home

Each morning for the past two months I have endured a love/hate relationship with www.har.com. I would wake up, hop to the computer, holding my breath, waiting with my little heart up in my throat just wishing, hoping, and praying to find the perfect listing. Finally, the search is over! I got a call from our realtor today and our offer was accepted! We found a house that we really love, in a perfect location, and can't wait to get things moving! Hopefully everything will go smoothly and we'll close the middle of next month. I'm so excited and feel so blessed for this opportunity we have had to come to Houston. It's a good life!

Woe is me... Gold's Gym Membership

Right before David found this job opp in Houston, I finally decided it was time I joined a gym. Of course, as soon as I signed my life away and got in my exercise routine, we got the news that David got the job and we were off to Houston. Now I have 23 months left on my membership and no Gold's nearby to work out at. Ugh! Seriously, this place is huge, could they not build a few more Gold's around here!? This has been hanging over my head for the past three months and I really want to sell it!!! Soo.... If anyone in Utah (anywhere in UT) is reading this and thinking they need to get off their bums and get exercising and want a good deal on a membership, let me know, because I'm dying to sell you mine!

I'll add that I really have no problem with Gold's they were nice and the gym is good... just bad timing for me. Anyway! At least I can vent this guilt/burden hanging over me if nothing else!
